To introduce circular economy approaches in the country, cooperation among stakeholders and the exchange of information and knowledge are essential. One of the most effective mechanisms for this is the establishment of Circular Economy Dialogue Platforms (CEDPs).
With the support of the European Union, CENN has established Circular Economy Dialogue Platforms (CEDPs) in Kakheti and Adjara as part of the “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia” project and hosted the first meetings.
The CEDPs bring together representatives of civil society, businesses, and educational institutions from Kakheti and Adjara. These platforms create an inclusive space for dialogue and cooperation, which promotes stakeholder engagement in policy development, the sharing of best practices, and the implementation of circular solutions. All of this benefits the environment, as well as local businesses and the economy.
First Meeting of the Circular Economy Dialogue Platform – Telavi, Kakheti | 3 April 2025
The first meetings of the CEDPs in Kakheti and Adjara were introductory in nature. During the meetings, members agreed on the structure and mandate of the platforms, familiarized themselves with the current legislative framework for the circular economy in Georgia, discussed the concept of the circular economy, and explored the challenges, needs, and opportunities for implementing this approach in the regions.
Participants also had the opportunity to meet with businesses operating in Georgia—Campas, Hilton Batumi, and Gogora—and learn about successful examples of circular approaches already adopted by these companies.
In conclusion, members agreed to actively participate in the work of the platforms and support the introduction and implementation of circular economy solutions in Kakheti and Adjara.

The EU-funded project “Circular Cities and Regions in Georgia: Building Local Capacities to Advance Waste Prevention and Circular Economy in the Regions of Georgia” was launched in October 2024 and will continue until the end of 2028. The project’s goal is to help create a more inclusive, sustainable, and environmentally resilient future in Georgia by promoting resource efficiency, sustainable consumption and production practices, and significantly reducing waste generation in the Kakheti region and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
